In addition, they are using their expertise in interdisciplinary research centers across the university.

Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Project Manager (non-technical) to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by serving the entire project team in all aspects of project planning and management. The Project Manager will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the research labs at CMU on a project that focuses on creating a multi-cancer early detection platform. They will lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to include collecting information and data from other tasks, compiling project report documents, creating presentations, maintaining experiment records, and assembling data summaries for progress reports and presentations. This role will also provide support to all staff for experimental and data tasks and help facilitate communication between the research labs and the leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and maintain status and other reports.
  • Collect and track project updates from research teams and emerging initiatives.
  • Facilitate project documentation in digital forms (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, project management software, and collaboration tools).
  • Tracking and supporting research compliance requirements on supported awards, including human subjects (IRB) and animal (IACUC) protocols, clinical trials, export controls, and other compliance-related requirements.
  • Review technical information from all project teams, attend technical project meetings, reviewing submissions from project teams to ensure technical accuracy and completeness, and facilitating initial reviews and compilation for funding agency reviewers.
  • Attend all monthly and quarterly meetings with ARPA-H POSEIDON team, providing
  • information on milestone progress and other issues related to the management of the team.
  • Provide technical support for coordinating shared resources and facilities as needed by project teams.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree required. PhD degree preferred in areas of Engineering, Computational Biology, Biophysics, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field.
  • 1+ years of project management experience.
  • Laboratory expertise in DNA nanotechnology and/or molecular programming.
  • Strong skills in analytical chemistry preferred.
  • Technical background and competence in working on large, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Experience in clinical trials and biomedical devices preferred.
