Summary:

Manages all internal construction/modification/refresh projects at the hospital and associated offsites. This includes being the point of contact and site level contact for all facility planning corporate driven projects.

Constructs, repairs and maintains wooden structures, furniture, millwork, windows, floors and equipment used for carpentry. Installs and repairs locksets, hinges and hardware.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION:

• High school graduate, technical school.
• A certified Journeyman's card to the Carpenter trade; or five (5) years actual working experience.
• Valid NYS driver's license.

EXPERIENCE:

• At least five (5) years experience working as a carpenter or in a similar job, 3 years specific to a healthcare setting
• At least 5 years in project management experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

• Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule forms or blueprints.
• Computer literacy is desirable.
• Responsible for managing and overseeing construction projects, working with other trades and outside contractors.
• Key stakeholder to ensure all compliance in projects according to local, state and federal regulations.
• Intimate knowledge of building (life safety) code requirements and ensures construction is meeting these requirements.
