Projects Manager (Contracting)

Role Purpose

The Projects Manager is responsible for end-to-end delivery of assigned overseas projects, with full ownership of site execution, HSE, Quality Control, and project controls, while ensuring complete alignment and integration with the Operations Manager on planning, commercial, and cross-functional decisions.

This role is the on-ground execution leader and the single point of accountability for overseas site performance.

Reporting Line:

  • Reports to: CEO, B2B Civil & Fit Out
  • Functional alignment with: Operations Manager

Oversees:

  • Overseas Project Teams
  • Site Management
  • HSE
  • Quality Control (QC)

Core Accountability

Deliver projects safely, compliantly, and profitably through disciplined site leadership and structured coordination with Operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overseas Site Execution Ownership

  • Lead and manage overseas site teams across all assigned projects
  • Ensure execution aligns with:
  • Approved drawings
  • Contractual scope
  • Baseline programme
  • Approved budgets
  • Drive site productivity and discipline across locations

2. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Full accountability for HSE compliance on overseas sites

Ensure:

  • Project-specific HSE plans are implemented
  • Toolbox talks, permits, and safety audits are conducted
  • Zero-tolerance approach to unsafe practices
  • Liaise with Operations Manager on systemic HSE improvements

3. Quality Control (QC) & Compliance

  • Ensure Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) systems are implemented on site

Enforce:

  • ITPs
  • Method statements
  • Inspection & test records
  • Prevent rework through proactive quality planning
  • Align QC reporting with Operations Manager’s governance framework

4. Integration with Operations Manager

Work in close alignment with the Operations Manager to:

  • Synchronise execution with planning and procurement strategies
  • Resolve cross-project constraints
  • Standardise reporting and escalation
  • Participate in regular operational reviews and integration meetings
  • Escalate risks with data and solution options, not just issues

5. Planning & Programme Alignment

  • Coordinate with Planning team through Operations Manager

Ensure site teams:

  • Follow approved baseline and recovery programmes
  • Provide accurate progress updates
  • Support delay analysis and EOT inputs through factual site data

6. Commercial, Claims & Contractual Support

  • Provide timely, accurate site records to support:
  • Variations
  • Claims
  • EOTs
  • Interim payment applications
  • Work closely with QS and Commercial teams via Operations Manager
  • Ensure site teams understand commercial implications of execution decisions

7. Procurement & Logistics Coordination

  • Align overseas site requirements with procurement plans

Ensure:

  • Material readiness
  • Long-lead items are tracked
  • Site storage and logistics are managed efficiently
  • Flag procurement risks early through Operations Manager

8. Client, Consultant & Stakeholder Management

Act as primary site-level interface with:

  • Clients
  • Consultants
  • PMCs
  • Maintain professional and contractual communication
  • Escalate major issues through agreed governance routes

9. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead multicultural overseas teams with clarity and discipline
  • Build site leadership capability in:
  • HSE
  • Quality
  • Planning awareness
  • Contractual discipline
  • Drive accountability and performance culture

Key Competencies & Experience

  • 15–20+ years in contracting business
  • Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts
  • Proven leadership of HSE & QC functions
  • Experience managing multi-location site teams
  • Strong coordination and integration mindset
  • Calm decision-maker in high-risk environments
