Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project/Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, and analysis, supporting both project-specific and organizational accounting needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, familiarity with various accounting software, and a solid understanding of GAAP principles. This position is integral to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic financial decision-making within a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards
  • Perform account reconciliations including general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and review financial data for discrepancies or errors
  • Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and reports for audit purposes
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks and Plexxis or similar platforms to streamline processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving corporate finance,
  • Mentor junior staff members in technical accounting concepts and best practices
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes and internal controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
  • Proven experience with corporate accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting environments
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial concepts, and regulatory requirements including SOX compliance
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required
  • Familiarity with technical accounting areas including securities law, Wills & estate law is a plus
  • Experience with financial report writing and interpretation for management review
  • Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and bank reconciliation tasks accurately
  • Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping practices
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare reports accordingly
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Prior mentoring experience is desirable for supporting team development

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
