Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project/Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, and analysis, supporting both project-specific and organizational accounting needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, familiarity with various accounting software, and a solid understanding of GAAP principles. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards
- Perform account reconciliations including general ledger reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and review financial data for discrepancies or errors
- Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and reports for audit purposes
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks and Plexxis or similar platforms to streamline processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving corporate finance,
- Mentor junior staff members in technical accounting concepts and best practices
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes and internal controls
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
- Proven experience with corporate accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting environments
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial concepts, and regulatory requirements including SOX compliance
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required
- Familiarity with technical accounting areas including securities law, Wills & estate law is a plus
- Experience with financial report writing and interpretation for management review
- Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation and bank reconciliation tasks accurately
- Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping practices
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare reports accordingly
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Prior mentoring experience is desirable for supporting team development
