MUST BE A CURRENT LOUISVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE IN THE RANK OF FIREFIGHTER.
Essential Functions:
Must be a regular employee and currently in the rank of Firefighter
Five (5) years of combined experience as a Firefighter or Firefighter Recruit in the Louisville Division of Fire
If separated any time during the two year period prior to the final filing date the candidate must have been re-employed by the department for at least one year prior to the filing deadline and the separation must have for a period less than one year.
Other Minimums:
Must wear personal protective and safety equipment as mandated by OSHA
Must be vaccinated for hepatitis B, have provided evidence of immunity, or have signed a declination form within ten days of initial assignment
Pumping unit and ladder truck certification papers must be on file in the Civil Service Office
Certification as a Driver/Operator from the Louisville Division of Fire
Must be certified and maintain certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Ambulance or Emergency Technician-Paramedic in the State of Kentucky
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
The deadline for meeting minimum length of service qualifications for promotional examinations will not be at the time of the exam. Individuals taking promotional examinations will be allowed to take such examinations if they meet the length of service requirement on or before August 14, 2026.
