Proofreader (Part-time, Contract)
Love what you do and whom you do it with. That’s our promise to you.:
Have fun and make money. It’s not just a catchphrase at (add)ventures—it’s our guiding principle that reflects what we believe a workplace experience should be.
We’re seeking a part-time Proofreader (up to 25 hours per week) to join our Content team and help us deliver flawless work that reflects our clients’ standards—and ours. You’ll be the final set of eyes on a wide range of deliverables, from social posts and scripts to websites and long-form content, ensuring every word, comma and capitalization is correct.
This flexible role can be structured as shorter hours each weekday or as full days on select weekdays (Tues/Wed/Thurs). We’ll collaborate on a schedule that works best for both sides. If you’re fast but never rushed, love the rhythm of a well-edited sentence and get a thrill from catching what others miss, you just might be our next proofer.
Responsibilities :
Review, edit and proofread content across multiple formats—print, digital, video and more—for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and consistency.
Ensure brand, voice and style consistency across diverse client accounts following AP, Chicago and client-specific style guides.
Collaborate with copywriters, designers, strategists and project managers to clarify meaning, resolve inconsistencies and strengthen readability.
Act as the last line of defense before delivery, maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines while balancing multiple projects.
Manage and maintain internal proofreading checklists, templates and client style references and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism or a related field.
7+ years of professional proofreading or editing experience, preferably in an agency, publishing or marketing environment.
Expert command of grammar, punctuation and usage; fluent in both AP and Chicago styles and able to flex between them.
Adept at working in new programs, deploying proofreading tools and managing workload independently.
Eagle-eyed attention to every little detail.
Proven ability to juggle multiple deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
Strong communication and collaboration skills—comfortable working across teams and providing clear, constructive feedback.
A calm, focused presence who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment.
We’re open to a flexible, hybrid schedule or a remote arrangement with occasional meetings at our headquarters in East Providence, Rhode Island.
(add)ventures is a multidisciplinary brand culture and communications firm. With offices in Miami and East Providence, (add)ventures has been exceeding the branding goals of industry-leading client partners for more than 25 years. Our offices specialize in disciplines including insights & analytics, video & animation, digital services, marketing, content creation and design. Our team is NICE—we’re nurturers with intelligence, character and energy. We solve problems, we make people happy, we love what we do and we love whom we do it with.
We are an EEO/Affirmative Action employer.
Please note: At this time, we are not offering relocation assistance or visa sponsorship for this position.
