Taft Brown Associates has partnered with a leading for-profit multi-state behavioral health organization in a search for a Proposal & Grant Writer to lead the development, coordination, and submission of proposals and bids to federal, state, and local government agencies. This individual will identify grant opportunities, build relationships with government funding agencies, and develop high-quality, competitive proposals focused on substance use disorder and mental health treatment initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and monitor federal, state, and local bid and grant opportunities relevant to the company's healthcare and behavioral health services.
  • Build and nurture relationships with funders through regular communication and engagement
  • Review and analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Applications (RFAs), and Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) to determine eligibility, scope, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate the full lifecycle of proposal and bid development, including timelines, content development, budget collaboration, review cycles, and submission.
  • Prepare technical narratives, compliance matrices, and pricing justifications that align with federal and state requirements.
  • Collaborate with leadership, finance, clinical, and operations teams to develop comprehensive proposals that reflect the company’s capabilities and service delivery model.
  • Register, maintain, and manage all necessary registrations, including SAM.gov, UEI, and applicable state procurement portals.
  • Ensure proposals are compliant with all federal, state, and agency regulations, including formatting, certifications, and reporting requirements.
  • Track and monitor proposal submissions, contract awards, renewals, and follow-up documentation.
  • Develop standardized templates and content libraries to streamline future proposal responses.
  • Stay informed of changes in government procurement processes, grant regulations, and healthcare funding trends.
  • Support internal teams with training or guidance related to government bid requirements and compliance documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience developing, writing, and managing federal or state bids and grant proposals, preferably within the healthcare or behavioral health sectors.
  • Proven success in preparing and submitting government proposals (RFP/RFA/NOFO responses) that resulted in awarded contracts or funding.
  • Strong understanding of government contracting terminology, compliance, and procurement regulations (2 CFR Part 200, FAR/DFARS, etc.).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and organizational skills with attention to clarity, compliance, and detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex RFPs and translate requirements into actionable deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and online submission platforms (e.g., Grants.gov, SAM.gov, state procurement systems).
  • Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $70,000.00 per year
