Protection Engineer – Kahramaa LOA Approved

Our client, a global leader committed to engineering excellence and the advancement of safety and reliability, is seeking a skilled Protection Engineer with valid Kahramaa LOA approval for a 3-month contractual assignment in Doha, Qatar. The role involves protection system engineering, relay testing, commissioning, and fault analysis within an industrial / utility environment, ensuring full compliance with Kahramaa, IEC, and IEEE standards.

Job Title: Protection Engineer with valid Kahramaa LOA approval
Location: Doha, Qatar and RLIC
Duration: 3 Months (Extendable)

Key Responsibilities

• Execute protection relay testing, commissioning, and configuration as per Kahramaa standards
• Review and validate protection coordination studies and relay settings
• Perform fault analysis and evaluate relay performance and disturbance records
• Support substation protection schemes (HV/MV/LV)
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and client engineering teams
• Ensure all activities comply with Kahramaa, RLIC, and HSE regulations
• Prepare technical reports, test results, and commissioning documentation
• Participate in shutdowns, energization, and emergency restoration activities

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in power system protection
• Valid Kahramaa LOA (Letter of Authorization) – Mandatory
• Proven experience with numerical relays (ABB, Siemens, Schneider, GE, SEL, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with OMICRON or equivalent relay test kits
• Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and Kahramaa protection standards
• Prior experience in utilities, substations, industrial plants, or oil & gas projects
