Protection Engineer-Substation

Supervision & Leadership

• Ensures all activities are executed according to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Provides technical guidance and training to crews working on GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) and protection systems.

Protection & Control Systems

• Oversees installation, testing, and maintenance of relay protection systems , SCADA, and control equipment.
• Ensures correct implementation of protection schemes to safeguard transformers, circuit breakers, and other critical assets.
• Troubleshoots faults and coordinates corrective actions to maintain grid reliability.

Operations & Maintenance

• Supervises preventive and corrective maintenance of substations.
• Reviews technical drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinates commissioning activities and ensures readiness of substations for operation.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforces strict adherence to electrical safety protocols and company policies.
• Exercises independent judgment to guarantee compliance with national and international standards.
• Maintains records and reporting systems for accountability and audits.

Skills & Qualifications

• Education : Engineering in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience : Minimum 8–15 years in high-voltage substations, specifically 110kV–380kV.
• Technical Expertise :
• Strong knowledge of GIS, transformers, breakers, and relay protection systems.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
• Leadership Skills : Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate large-scale projects.
• Problem-Solving : Skilled in diagnosing and resolving electrical faults under pressure.
