The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.
In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.
In this context, we would be interested in recruiting suitable candidates for the position of PRT-EVS teacher for Classes 1 to 5. The teacher will introduce young children to basic Environmental Studies — environment, nature, living‑things, community, surroundings — through simple and engaging lessons to build curiosity, awareness and respect for nature.
Educational Qualification:
- Recognised elementary‑teaching certification: e.g. Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), or Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), or equivalent.
- Proficiency in the medium of instruction (language) used by the school.
- (Preferred) Interest or background in science / environmental studies — helpful for teaching EVS effectively to young children.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver EVS lessons for Classes 1–5 — covering topics like nature, environment, plants/animals, surroundings, basic ecology, hygiene, community and daily life.
- Use child‑friendly, activity‑based methods (stories, drawings, observations, games, simple experiments, outdoor‑learning) to make classes interactive and fun.
- Prepare worksheets / activity sheets / teaching aids; assign classwork or projects; monitor children’s understanding and development.
- Provide support to children needing additional help; nurture interest and confidence in learning EVS.
- Maintain records of attendance, progress, and behavioural development.
