Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in providing comprehensive mental health care to patients across various settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric nursing, with experience in both clinical and outpatient environments. You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental health disorders while collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care.

Duties

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to determine patient needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses, adjusting treatment as necessary.
• Provide psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals, families, and groups.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care effectively.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
• Participate in clinical research projects as needed to advance knowledge in the field of psychiatry.
• Stay current with developments in psychiatric nursing and mental health care practices.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experiences:

• Proficiency in EMR systems such as IntakeQ .
• Experience in acute care settings including ICU, emergency medicine, or hospital medicine.
• Proficient with behavioral health practices and psychopharmacology.
• Background in geriatrics, pediatrics, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and documentation standards.
• Experience administering injections, IV infusions, phlebotomy, and performing physical examinations.
• Understanding of case management principles and discharge planning processes.
• Ability to work effectively within a team while demonstrating strong communication skills.
