THE POSITION

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, strategic, and justice-oriented attorney to join our team. The Reentry Attorney will provide direct legal services to formerly incarcerated individuals and collaborate with community partners to remove legal barriers to successful reintegration.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

Provide legal counsel and representation in areas such as:

· Expungement and record sealing

· Parole/probation issues

· Housing and employment discrimination

· Family reunification and custody matters

· Access to public benefits

• Collaborate with case managers, social workers, and external partners to support client goals
• Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence
• Monitor and advocate for local and state policies that impact reentry populations
• Maintain accurate case files and comply with grant reporting requirements
• Participate in community outreach and education efforts

· Ownership focused, self-starter mindset and solution-based strategist.



QUALIFICATIONS

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in California
• 2+ years of legal experience, preferably in criminal defense, civil rights, or public interest law
• Demonstrated commitment to racial justice, decarceration, and community empowerment
• Strong interpersonal skills and trauma-informed approach to client services
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Bilingual (especially Spanish) is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time

· Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment

· Visual acuity to read words and numbers

· Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in-person or over the phone

· Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $95,000.00 per year
