Public Programming Officer

Position Summary

The Public Programming Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and events that engage the public and support the organization's mission. This role requires a dynamic and creative individual who can work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver impactful and inclusive programming to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Delivery: Design, plan, and execute public programs, workshops, lectures, and special events that align with organizational goals and audience needs.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community groups, educators, artists, and other stakeholders to ensure programming is accessible and relevant.
  • Partnerships: Collaborate with local organizations, sponsors, and vendors to enhance program offerings and expand reach.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Work with the communications team to promote events through digital, print, and social media channels; develop engaging content and outreach materials.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor program attendance, collect feedback, and assess outcomes; prepare regular reports on program effectiveness and impact.
  • Budget Management: Assist in managing budgets for public programs, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost-effective delivery.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support public programming initiatives.
  • Accessibility and Inclusion: Ensure programming is welcoming and accessible to all, addressing barriers to participation and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts Administration, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and foster partnerships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms; familiarity with event management software is a plus.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for public engagement and lifelong learning.

Working Conditions

The Public Programming Officer will work in both office and event settings. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support program delivery. Some local travel may be necessary.
