Public Relations Specialist

Weaving Influence is a leader in providing strategic and creative marketing services to our clients. We specialize in marketing business books and building online influence for authors and thought leaders.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting Relationship and Primary Duties

This is a part-time, remote, contract position collaborating with the Public Relations Strategist. This individual executes public relations strategies for the Weaving Influence clients by developing relevant media lists, creating and sending pitches, and following up with media outlets and podcasts to secure placements.

Accountabilities

  • Executes public relations strategies to drive visibility and coverage for our clients and their books and messages.
  • Effectively communicates with PR team members about their successes and challenges, ensuring work is delivered as promised and within budget.
  • Collaborates with clients and the PR Strategist to ensure PR materials and client-contributed articles are well written, position the client well, and have the ability to drive media interest.
  • Provides consistent, timely, and thorough communication to all levels of the organization, clients, and media partners.
  • Adapts to and integrates the use of new technologies to continue improving our ability to deliver results to our clients and/or position the company as a leader in the industry.
  • Models company values in words and actions when communicating with clients, the media, and team members.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads client books and reviews existing assets to better understand the clients and their work in service of creating more effective media lists and pitches..
  • Conducts media outreach and follow-up.
  • Submits client books for Kirkus reviews.
  • Ghostwrites articles for clients and/or reviews client by-lined articles for content purposes to ensure alignment of messaging and positioning.
  • Conducts media training for clients and prepares clients ahead of media interviews including developing media briefs.
  • Monitors the news for opportunities to “newsjack” stories for clients.
  • Responds quickly to Qwoted/Profnet (media) queries on behalf of clients.
  • Works with media database tools, podcast pitching tools, and wire services and processes and makes recommendations for new tools as appropriate.
  • Partners with team members and manages required resources to ensure work progresses in a timely manner and with high-quality results.
  • Effectively manages multiple clients simultaneously.
  • Communicates with the Weaving Influence team weekly through established processes regarding pitching progress and efforts in serving clients.
  • Adheres to client budgets and tracks time appropriately and in real-time.
  • Creates reports for clients.

  • Engage and interact with both in-person and virtual team members through team instant-message channels and regular meetings.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, English, or the equivalent, relevant work experience. One to two years of professional experience in public relations in a business setting.
  • Must have experience using various media databases, such as Muckrack, ProfNet, ListenNotes, and Podmatch.
  • Must be proficient in using Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides as well as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Hubspot and Basecamp preferred.

At this time, we are unable to work with contractors in New York or California.

Job Types: Contract, Part-time

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
