The Illinois State Police is seeking an organized, results-oriented professional to serve as a Public Service Administrator – Assistant Deputy Chief Counsel – Privacy, Ethics, Information & Discipline for the Legal Office of the Office of the Director. THIS IS A MERIT COMP POSITION. This position communicates and interacts regularly with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and various criminal justice partners and reports back to the Deputy Chief Legal Counsel. Manages a litigation portfolio on behalf of the Department as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer. Manages and directs activities of legal staff, participating in high-level management discussions relating to Department operations. Reviews administrative rules, legislation, and laws. Serves as Assistant Deputy Chief Legal Counsel, drafting and reviewing legal documents necessary for the functioning of a major state agency. Counsels staff regarding work performance. Provides input to the Deputy Chief Legal Counsel on pending legislative proposals, administrative proceedings, and the handling of litigation cases. Prepares course outlines and materials required to conduct classes for cadets or existing sworn officers. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
