AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited, Obuasi Gold Mine has been redeveloped to become a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

ROLE PURPOSE


The Pump Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing of mechanical dewatering equipment and infrastructure on the mine, ensuring optimal performance and safe operation of dewatering pumps.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
  • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
  • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
  • Adhere to site’s Environmental Management Plan.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on dewatering equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs or replacements on dewatering systems as necessary.
  • Collaboratively work closely with supervisor to support the design and implementation of mechanical systems. Assist in the development of maintenance plans and procedures for the mine dewatering.
  • Collaborate with other technical staff to ensure the coordination of other services such as electrical, shaft and structural engineering.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair works, including parts used for equipment maintenance.
  • Document processes and create detailed reports on interventions and outcomes.
  • Adhere to safety standards and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure that all work areas are clean and organized.
  • Provide guidance to dewatering operators and other staff on the safe and efficient use of the dewatering equipment.
  • Conduct maintenance on service water supply system, including PRVs, isolation valves and piping
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of machinery and equipment within the functional limits of the dewatering section
  • Repair or replace worn or malfunctioning parts of dewatering equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Qualification


  • Technician Part II Certificate or equivalent OR
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology or related field OR City and Guilds certificate part II

Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years relevant working experience in Mechanical Operations within the mining industry.

Legal Requirement

  • MINCOM certification will be an added advantage
