Purchase Engineer

Job Summary:

The Purchase Engineer is responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services required for engineering and manufacturing projects. This role involves sourcing vendors, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining cost efficiency while upholding quality standards. The Purchase Engineer plays a key role in streamlining supply chain processes and ensuring seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement:

• Source and procure materials, machinery, spare parts, and other equipment required for projects.
• Evaluate technical specifications and ensure purchased items meet project requirements.
• Develop and issue purchase orders while ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
• Must have knowledge on Steel , PEB , Hardware , Tools , PPE , Fabrication Consumables ,Valves ,Fire Hydrant System , Fire Alarm , PA .

2. Vendor Management:

• Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate contracts to achieve favourable terms, including price, delivery, and payment conditions.
• Monitor supplier performance, ensuring timely delivery and quality adherence.

3. Cost Optimization:

• Conduct cost analysis to identify savings opportunities without compromising quality.
• Compare and analyse vendor quotations and bids to select the most cost-effective options.
• Maintain a balance between cost, quality, and delivery timelines.

4. Inventory Management:

• Coordinate with inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Monitor inventory usage and ensure timely reordering to avoid project delays.
• Implement strategies for reducing inventory holding costs.

5. Documentation and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier agreements.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational procurement guidelines.
• Prepare reports on purchase activities, savings, and supplier performance.

6. Collaboration:

• Work closely with project teams to understand material requirements.
• Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure smooth transportation and delivery of materials.
• Address and resolve issues related to procurement or supplier discrepancies.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Proficiency in using basic software MS Office .
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of technical specifications and materials used in engineering and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with local and PAN India procurement regulations and standards.
• Good vendor base across India and OEM level

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for vendor management.
• Problem-solving mindset to address procurement challenges effectively.
