Job description:
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer – Instrumentation to manage procurement activities related to instrumentation, automation, and control system materials for Oil & Gas projects. The candidate will be responsible for sourcing, vendor coordination, technical evaluation, negotiation, and timely procurement of materials while ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle procurement activities for instrumentation and control system materials used in Oil & Gas projects.
- Review RFQs, technical specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, and BOMs to identify procurement requirements.
- Source suitable vendors and suppliers for instruments, valves, analyzers, cables, junction boxes, PLC/SCADA systems, and related accessories.
- Obtain quotations, compare technical and commercial offers, and prepare bid comparison statements.
- Coordinate with engineering, project, and operations teams for technical clarifications and material approvals.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Issue Purchase Orders and ensure timely follow-up for material delivery.
- Maintain procurement records, vendor databases, and documentation in compliance with company procedures.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delays, or non-conformance.
- Ensure purchased materials comply with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate logistics and shipment schedules with suppliers and freight forwarders.
- Support inventory planning and material forecasting activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and manufacturers.
Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in procurement/purchasing within the Instrumentation or Oil & Gas industry.
- Experience in handling industrial instrumentation and automation products is preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of instrumentation products, control systems, and Oil & Gas industry standards.
- Familiarity with technical documents such as datasheets, P&IDs, hook-up drawings, and specifications.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Good understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
