Responsibilities
- Supplier management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery timelines. Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to get the best prices.
- Procurement process: Collate purchase orders and requisitions to order materials. Track orders, review deliveries, and resolve issues with non-delivered, under-ordered, or damaged goods.
- Inventory management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels to prevent stockouts and minimize costs. Ensure timely replenishment of materials to meet production schedules.
- Internal coordination: Work with various departments to understand their procurement needs and collaborate on forecasting demand.
- Record-keeping: Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, delivery information, and invoices. Produce and maintain reports on purchases, including cost analyses.
- Quality and compliance: Ensure purchased products and services meet quality standards and are delivered on time. Stay updated on relevant industry trends and regulations.
- Finance and reporting: Work with the finance department to ensure timely payments and ensure compliance with budget adherence.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is often required.
- Experience: Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or a related role is crucial.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Analytical and cost-analysis abilities.
- Proficiency with procurement software, such as SAP.
- Knowledge of supply chain procedures.
- Attention to detail.
