Job Description: Purchase Executive

Position Title: Purchase Executive
Reporting To: Head of Purchase

Position Purpose

The Purchase Executive is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies for raw materials, engineering items, and packaging materials. The role ensures alignment with organizational objectives, cost optimization, supplier quality, and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing methodologies to optimize procurement costs.
  • Identify, evaluate, and finalize vendors through techno-commercial negotiations.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers.
  • Establish vendor qualification and re-qualification processes.
  • Define supplier quality parameters and implement best practices in vendor development.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, engineering items, and packaging materials.
  • Monitor procurement costs to remain within budget.
  • Optimize working capital by maximizing credit days and minimizing inventory levels.
  • Maintain ARC/AMC agreements with service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and ISO requirements.
  • Identify non-moving items and propose NPA in consultation with relevant departments.
  • Reconcile materials with subcontractors and maintain outsourcing records.
  • Resolve issues related to product specifications or quality standards.

Vendor Development

  • Identify materials requiring vendor development.
  • Consolidate requirements and specifications across materials.
  • Conduct market scanning and float RFI/RFP to potential vendors.
  • Shortlist vendors and lead rate negotiations.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Segment suppliers into strategic, critical, leverage, and routine categories.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations and share scorecards.
  • Assess supplier risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and monitor supplier development initiatives.

Supplier Quality Management

  • Implement quality systems to ensure product consistency with suppliers and outsourcing partners.
  • Prepare QMS documentation and represent the department during audits.
  • Establish and manage annual budgets for sourcing and vendor development.
  • Maintain daily reports and records in company systems.

People Responsibilities

  • Communicate supplier quality matters with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify training needs and support skill development initiatives.
  • Drive performance management processes in collaboration with senior management.
  • Recognize and reward employee contributions.
  • Inspire and motivate team members by promoting organizational values, vision, and mission.
  • Actively participate in team engagement activities.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: B.E. Mechanical
  • Postgraduate Degree: MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
