The
Purchasing Executive
is a senior procurement specialist responsible for the strategic sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of all materials, equipment, and subcontracts required for the company's building construction projects. This role demands deep industry expertise to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials at the most competitive costs, directly supporting project efficiency, budget adherence, and overall profitability.
Strategic Sourcing:
Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for major construction materials (e.g., steel, concrete, finishing materials, MEP components) and specialized subcontracting services.
Negotiation and Cost Control:
Lead complex contract negotiations with suppliers and vendors to secure optimal pricing, favorable payment terms, and consistent supply reliability, focusing heavily on cost reduction without compromising quality.
Vendor Management:
Identify, evaluate, and maintain a robust database of qualified suppliers and subcontractors specific to the building construction sector, ensuring compliance with company standards and specifications.
Procurement Process Management:
Manage the entire purchase order lifecycle, from receiving approved requisitions and issuing RFQs/RFPs to processing payments and managing delivery logistics to construction sites.
Contract and Legal Compliance:
Review and manage procurement contracts, ensuring all terms and conditions related to warranties, quality standards, and delivery schedules are legally sound and strictly followed.
Market Analysis:
Continuously monitor construction commodity markets, global supply chains, and pricing trends to forecast cost fluctuations and advise project teams on purchasing strategies.
Coordination with Projects:
Work closely with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and Quantity Surveyors to understand material requirements, specifications, and project timelines to prevent delays due to procurement issues.
Education:
University degree
in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is mandatory.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience
in a procurement, purchasing, or supply chain role
specifically within the building construction field
(general contracting, real estate development, or specialized sub-contracting).
Technical Knowledge:
Deep, verifiable knowledge of construction materials, specifications, and reading technical drawings and schedules (BOQs).
Negotiation Skills:
Exceptional negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship skills.
Software Proficiency:
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365) used for procurement and inventory control, as well as Microsoft Office (advanced Excel).
Communication:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for external vendor relations and internal stakeholder communication.
Integrity:
Proven track record of operating with the highest level of professional ethics and integrity in procurement practices.
