Job Description – Purchase Intern (Garments)

Position: Purchase Intern
Location: Maraimalai Nagar, Chengalpattu
Department: Purchase
Duration: 6 months Internship
Reporting to: Purchase Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for a Purchase Intern to support our garment sourcing and procurement team. The intern will assist in vendor coordination, fabric & trims sourcing, technical approvals, and purchase documentation. This role provides hands-on exposure to garment production, sourcing, and supply chain processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in sourcing and development of fabrics, trims, and accessories for new collections/orders.
• Collect and compare supplier quotations and maintain price records.
• Support the technical team in sample evaluation, approvals, and quality checks.
• Help prepare purchase orders, follow up with suppliers, and track deliveries.
• Maintain an updated vendor database with product catalogs and lead times.
• Coordinate with merchandising and production teams to understand material requirements.
• Assist in lab-dip, strike-off, and bulk sample approvals.
• Support in monitoring inventory of raw materials, trims, and packaging items.
• Prepare and update MIS reports, purchase trackers, and documentation.
• Participate in supplier meetings, audits, and negotiations for quality, cost, and timelines.

Skills & Qualifications

• Pursuing/completed B.Sc./M.Sc. in Textile / Apparel / Fashion Technology / MBA in Supply Chain / Operations.
• Basic knowledge of garment production processes (fabric, trims, stitching, finishing, packaging).
• Strong in MS Excel & documentation.
• Good communication, coordination, and negotiation skills.
• Detail-oriented with an interest in garment sourcing & technical aspects.
