Purchase Manager

Job Purpose

To plan, source, negotiate, and procure raw materials, food ingredients, packaging items, and grocery products at the best possible price and quality, ensuring timely availability to support smooth production and sales operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies for food ingredients, grocery products, and packaging materials.
• Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts and terms, and build long-term vendor relationships.
• Ensure timely procurement to avoid stockouts while minimizing excess inventory.
• Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and competitor purchasing strategies.
• Maintain approved vendor list with regular performance evaluations (price, quality, delivery).
• Coordinate with production, quality, and stores teams to plan and forecast material requirements.
• Verify purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders, and track delivery schedules.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards in purchased goods.
• Manage procurement budgets, cost control, and purchase-related documentation.
• Resolve supply-related issues and disputes promptly.
• Maintain accurate procurement records in ERP/software and generate MIS reports.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain / Business / Commerce / Food Technology
• 2–8 years of experience in purchase/procurement, preferably in FMCG food or grocery sector.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Good knowledge of food safety norms and quality standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office and ERP procurement modules.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong planning, coordination, and cost management ability.
