Job Description: Purchase Manager

Job Title: Purchase Manager

Department: Purchase

Reporting To: Unit Head

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement procurement strategies, forecast demand, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Sourcing & Negotiation: Research and evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms for optimal value.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, evaluate performance, and ensure compliance.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels, oversee purchasing orders, and coordinate with warehouse/logistics.
  • Compliance: Ensure all purchases meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise purchasing staff, manage daily activities, and provide guidance.
  • Reporting: Track metrics, analyse expenses, and report to management.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, or a related field, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of market dynamics and purchasing software.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Core Purpose:

To ensure the hospital has the necessary quality products and services at the best price, minimizing financial risk, while supporting clinical operations and improving patient/staff experience.
