Purchase Manager

Indigo is looking for an Purchase Manager who will lead the entire procurement function for household, kitchenware, and hotel-ware product categories, overseeing sourcing, vendor development, costing, negotiations, and supply planning. This role requires strong domain knowledge, leadership capability, and strategic decision-making to ensure cost efficiency, product availability, and vendor performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for household & hotel-ware categories.
  • Identify, evaluate, and finalize suppliers .
  • Conduct market analysis to identify new product trends, materials, and innovations.

2. Vendor Development & Management

  • Build, evaluate, and nurture long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Audit vendors for capacity, pricing, quality standards, and service levels.
  • Resolve supply issues, disputes, delays, or quality failures.

3. Costing, Negotiation & Contracting

  • Lead price negotiations, long-term agreements, and commercial terms.
  • Ensure optimal costing through volume buying, alternate materials, or supplier comparison.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality.

4. Procurement Operations

  • Approve purchase orders and ensure timely procurement of material.
  • Oversee sampling, product approvals, and trial orders.
  • Manage end-to-end order lifecycle: PO → Production → QC → Dispatch → Delivery.

5. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams for product inspections and compliance standards.
  • Ensure alignment with company specifications, packaging guidelines, and legal requirements (if applicable).

6. Inventory & Supply Planning

  • Work closely with planning and warehouse teams to ensure healthy stock levels.
  • Forecast purchase requirements based on sales trends and seasonal demand.
  • Reduce excess/slow-moving inventory through strategic purchasing.

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with product development, sales, merchandising, finance, and operations teams.
  • Support new product launches with timely procurement and vendor readiness.
  • Ensure budget adherence and procurement reporting.

8. Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor the purchasing team (executives, assistants, sourcing staff).
  • Assign KPIs, review performance, and improve team efficiency.
  • Train the team on market knowledge, costing, and vendor handling.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of household, kitchenware, serve-ware, hotel-ware materials & vendors
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Experience in domestic & international sourcing
  • High-level costing and price breakdown understanding
  • Vendor management & development expertise
  • Familiarity with ERP, Excel, and procurement documentation
  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple SKUs and fast-moving categories

Qualification & Experience

  • Graduate / MBA in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business
  • 6+ years experience in procurement or sourcing
  • Preference for candidates from household goods, kitchenware, hotel-ware, retail, or consumer goods industry

Salary Range

  • Based on company norms and experience level

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
