Purchase Officer for Scrap Batteries and Spares

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and capable Purchase Officer for Scrap Batteries and Spares to manage the sourcing and procurement of scrap batteries from all the regions of the North-East and its adjoining areas. The role requires field visits to markets, vendors, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement, timely delivery, and adherence to quality standards as per company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate reliable vendors and suppliers of scrap batteries through field visits and market research.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to ensure the best procurement deals.
• Procure scrap batteries as per organizational requirements, ensuring timely delivery.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions, including supplier details, invoices, and material specifications.
• Coordinate transportation and delivery of scrap batteries from suppliers to the manufacturing facility.
• For each consignment, ensure the delivery challan and invoice match the ordered quantity, type, and weight.
• Provide inputs for cost optimization and supplier evaluation.
• Procure spares and consumables required for the Manufacturing Unit, such as Hand Gloves, Safety shoes, Masks, Welding Rods, Motors, Machining work, Motors, Cables, VFDs, or as per the Indents.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of purchase experience, preferably in scrapbatteries, or related industrial items, or working in a Battery Store
• Must have knowledge of vendors and suppliers of scrap batteries across the region.
• A Two-wheeler is mandatory with a valid driving license for local site visits and supplier coordination.
• Willingness to travel for market research, supplier visits, and logistics follow-up in North East India.
• Proven experience in purchasing or field procurement, with a track record of supplier negotiation and cost optimization.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records of procurement and material receipt.
