Purchasing Agent

Summary

The Purchasing Agent reports directly to the Supply Chain Supervisor. The primary focus of this position is to ensure materials are ordered and delivered on time, consistent with the production schedule. In addition, this role also coordinates closely with other departments, manages supplier relationships, and works to ensure a cost-efficient and quality supply of materials.

Responsibilities

• Issue and confirm new purchase orders

• Review and firm new orders generated by MRP system

• Develop and maintain supplier forecasts

• Review and troubleshoot past due orders

• Manage supplier kan ban systems

• Conduct supplier reviews for quality and cost saving opportunities

• Research, qualify, and set-up new suppliers

• Sit for up to 8 hours per day

• Daily use of computer up to 8 hours per day

• May require travel to offsite facility

Qualifications/Skills:

• Fluent in Microsoft office programs required
• 2-5 (or more) years of buyer/planner experience preferred
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be logical with well-developed problem-solving skills.
• Natural attention to detail.
• Ability to learn new skills quickly.
• Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative within a team environment.

Education and Licensing

• Bachelor’s degree in Business/Supply Chain/ or Accounting preferred
