Purchasing Agent - Buyer

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Agent to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities, sourcing materials, and negotiating contracts to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management and inventory control processes, as well as proficiency in various ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, and Oracle EBS.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchasing process from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Source and evaluate suppliers based on quality, price, delivery time, and service.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with vendors to secure favorable terms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including logistics, production planning, and merchandising to align purchasing strategies with business objectives.
• Monitor inventory levels and implement inventory management practices to minimize excess stock while ensuring availability of materials.
• Utilize ERP systems such as SAP ERP, JD Edwards, and Oracle EBS for procurement activities and materials management.
• Analyze market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement roles within a manufacturing or retail environment.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management.
• Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS, or AS400 is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of materials management, MRP processes, and inventory control methodologies.
• Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and their integration into supply chain processes is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess supplier performance and market conditions effectively.
