We are currently seeking a Purchasing Clerk to join our team in Broussard, Louisiana. This position plays a key role in ensuring our operations run efficiently by managing purchase orders, vendor relationships, and inventory control.

Job Summary

The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for purchasing all materials, tools, goods, and supplies needed for the company's operations. This includes issuing and tracking purchase orders, maintaining accurate records, ensuring competitive pricing, and coordinating with vendors and internal teams to guarantee timely delivery of materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue purchase orders and obtain acknowledgments within 48 hours of issuance.

  • Track and monitor orders to ensure timely delivery.

  • Negotiate with vendors to achieve the best pricing, lead times, and service.

  • Maintain inventory stock levels and ensure replenishment at proper intervals.

  • Request multiple quotes when necessary to ensure competitive pricing.

  • Maintain accurate purchasing documentation and compliance with company policies and regulations.

  • Collaborate closely with the Inside Sales and ShippingReceiving departments to ensure accurate and timely goods receipt.

  • Manage vendor relationships and maintain awareness of market trends, price fluctuations, and supply chain conditions.

  • Make collection calls to ensure timely customer payments.

  • Participate in weekly department meetings to share updates and resolve open issues.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and standard office equipment.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of purchasing regulations, supply management, and inventory control.

  • Basic understanding of accounting and economic principles.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Team-oriented with a commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.

Work EnvironmentPhysical Requirements

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with overtime as needed.

  • Physical demands: Primarily sedentary; some walking, standing, and light lifting required.

  • Travel: None to minimal.

TrainingTools

Training will be conducted primarily at the Broussard location under the supervision of the General Manager. The Purchasing Clerk will be trained on:

  • Issuing and tracking purchase orders

  • Pricing and vendor communications

  • Inventory management

  • Collections for the Broussard office

Software Used: Outlook, QuickBooks, Excel, and other Microsoft Office programs as needed.

Required PPE: Closed-toe shoes in office areas, steel-toe boots and safety glasses in warehouse areas.
