Purchasing Coordinator

Location: Knightdale, NC

Position Overview:

The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, supplies, and services necessary for the successful operation of Blue Valley Cabinets. This role will coordinate vendor relationships, maintain accurate purchasing records, and support production teams by ensuring materials are available when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place and track purchase orders for raw materials, hardware, and supplies according to inventory levels and production needs
  • Monitor inventory reports and reorder levels to ensure adequate stock of essential components
  • Work closely with vendors to confirm lead times, negotiate pricing, and resolve delivery issues
  • Coordinate inbound shipments and ensure accuracy of items received
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of POs, invoices, receipts, and supplier documentation
  • Communicate with production and warehouse teams to prioritize urgent material needs or resolve delays
  • Support the evaluation of vendor performance, pricing trends, and cost-saving opportunities
  • Assist with returns, credit memos, and damaged goods claims
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with finance and receiving departments to reconcile discrepancies
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts and audits
  • Work closely with the inventory manager to minimize & complete any backorders.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or relevant coursework preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory coordination (manufacturing experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of cabinet or woodworking materials a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and follow-through
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic ERP or purchasing systems
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions:

  • Office and warehouse environment
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
  • May be required to walk manufacturing floor or storage areas
