Position: Purchasing Engineer – Mechanical Components

About the Role

As a Purchasing Engineer specialized in mechanical components, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing activities for plastic, metal, and fastening parts used in Daiichi’s automotive electronics products. Working closely with cross-functional teams in R&D, Quality, and Program Management, you will develop supplier strategies, drive cost optimization, and ensure supplier performance in line with Daiichi’s global standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage strategic purchasing activities for plastic injection, aluminum die-cast, sheet metal bending, and mechanical fastening components.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with project and corporate targets.
  • Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management processes.
  • Conduct cost analysis and support both mass production and new business quotation (RFQ) cost estimations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and new suppliers; ensure supplier performance on cost, quality, delivery, and sustainability KPIs.
  • Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and cost competitiveness during development phases.
  • Monitor market trends, materials cost fluctuations, and identify risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Drive cost-reduction and localization projects in alignment with company goals.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate purchasing policies and quality standards.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in strategic or project purchasing of mechanical parts, ideally within the automotive electronics industry.
  • Solid technical understanding of plastic injection molding, die-casting, sheet metal forming, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Existing supplier network and readiness to contribute from day one.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP or similar) and MS Office tools.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Proactive mindset and ability to work in a multicultural, cross-functional environment.
