Purchasing Logistics Specialist

The Contracting Officer is a key member of the purchasing team, responsible for acquiring goods and services and providing contract administration support for assigned departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage moderate to complex procurements with significant financial impact
  • Develop contracts and procurement documents in collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Source vendors, obtain bids/quotations, award contracts, and issue purchase orders
  • Monitor, amend, and close purchase orders
  • Process and reconcile credit card transactions
  • Prepare procurement justifications (competitive and non-competitive)
  • Conduct cost/price analyses and recommend optimal solutions
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and specifications; administer contracts
  • Ensure procurement documentation meets audit requirements
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead solicitation processes and proposal evaluations
  • Present to internal/external stakeholders and lead project teams
  • Support supplier relationship initiatives
  • Assist with reporting and strategic sourcing efforts
  • Manage supplier contracts and purchasing agreements using tracking tools

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of purchasing experience, or 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business or related field
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPCM, CPSM)
  • Experience in higher education or government procurement
  • Familiarity with supplier management systems and contract tracking tools
