Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and analytical Procurement Specialist to join our Elkhart, IN team. This role is pivotal in managing the supply chain for raw materials, MRO items, and office products, ensuring seamless operations and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will excel in supply chain optimization, vendor management, and inventory control, leveraging strong analytical skills and MRP/ERP systems to drive efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Planning and Optimization
- Forecast material requirements using historical data, demand projections, and market trends to ensure timely availability.
- Utilize and maintain MRP/ERP systems to streamline material planning and procurement processes.
- Optimize safety stock levels and reorder points to balance inventory costs and service levels.
- Monitor and manage inventory to achieve target inventory turns while meeting customer demand.
- Expedite critical components to prevent supply chain disruptions.
- Vendor and Contract Management
- Source and vet domestic and international suppliers, conducting site visits for negotiations and relationship building (travel required).
- Negotiate competitive pricing, terms, and contracts for raw materials, MRO items, office supplies, freight, and marketing materials.
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure reliable supply chain performance.
- Logistics and Process Improvement
- Evaluate freight costs and logistics strategies to optimize transportation and reduce lead times.
- Manage international documentation and compliance for global sourcing activities.
- Lead the development and implementation of an RFQ system to enhance procurement efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in supply chain processes and cost savings.
- Perform additional duties to support supply chain resilience and company objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in supply chain management, purchasing, materials management, or demand planning in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on supply chain optimization and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel/Office Suite for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective vendor and team collaboration.
- Self-motivated with strong time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable to changing supply chain dynamics and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth experience with ERP systems in supply chain or procurement functions.
- Proven expertise in international purchasing and global supply chain logistics.
- Familiarity with international trade documentation, tariffs, and freight logistics.
- Knowledge of lean supply chain principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
