JOB TITLE: PURCHASING MANAGER
Summary/Objective:
Locate vendors, negotiate prices, place purchase orders, expedite delivery with vendors, filing, and following up with vendors on shipment and delivery. Manage purchasing activities, optimizing costs, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Vendor Management and Negotiation:
- Identifies potential suppliers, evaluates proposals, and negotiates contracts and pricing terms.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and ensures timely resolution of issues.
- Purchasing Process:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies and policies.
- Reviews purchase requisitions. Creates and approves purchase orders within established limits.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitors inventory levels and forecasts demand to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize carrying costs and optimize inventory turnover.
- Cost Management and Budgeting:
- Tracks and analyzes purchasing trends, costs, and supplier performance.
- Prepares and manages departmental budgets and forecasts.
- Quality Control:
- Collaborates with quality assurance to ensure purchased products and services meet quality standards.
- Resolve quality issues with suppliers and implement corrective actions.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare reports and presents data related to purchasing activities and performance metrics.
- Analyzes spending data and identifies opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensures compliance with procurement regulations and contractual obligations.
- Assesses and mitigates risks associated with purchasing activities.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational background in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Familiarity with sourcing and procurement software (QuickBooks).
- Analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Located in San Antonio
- Fluent in Spanish
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), depending on the organizational structure.
Working Conditions:
- Typically works in an office environment.
- May require occasional travel to meet with suppliers or attend industry events.
