Purchasing Manager for Electrical Contractor

Job Description:

BLM & C Electrical Corp. is seeking an experienced Purchasing Coordinator to oversee all material procurement activities across our commercial, residential, and industrial projects. This role ensures that all electrical materials, equipment rentals, and supplies are sourced, priced, ordered, tracked, and delivered on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and skilled at building and maintaining vendor relationships, negotiating prices and payment terms.

The Work:

  • Manage the full purchasing lifecycle for all project materials—from RFQ to delivery.
  • Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate material purchasing aligned with electrical and building codes.
  • Prepare and distribute RFQs; collect and analyze competitive pricing and lead times.
  • Create and maintain large purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile, approve, and coordinate invoices with Accounts Payable to ensure accuracy.
  • Schedule and coordinate material deliveries and rental equipment for job sites.
  • Transport materials and equipment to job sites when needed.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and research new suppliers for better pricing and availability.
  • Track delivery schedules, resolve pricing or quality issues, and ensure materials arrive in good condition.
  • Manage returns and credits to minimize cost waste.
  • Oversee warehouse inventory, maintain daily stock lists, and ensure accuracy in stock levels.
  • Enter bills and purchasing data into QuickBooks Online (QBO) with precision.
  • Assist with internal, corporate projects as necessary

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess/exhibit:

  • 3+ years of purchasing experience in construction or electrical contracting.
  • Strong ability to read and understand electrical plans and specifications.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Strong data entry discipline; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and QBO.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with proactive communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional travel to job sites or vendors.
  • Prolonged computer use for purchasing, RFQs, and PO management.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Salary:

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
