Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Three years of purchasing and/ or contract management experience involving a variety of commodities are required. Completion of college coursework may substitute for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis.

Recruitment Notes


This position involves centralized purchasing activities within the PIOD Business Services Division. The incumbent is responsible for managing the procurement process of various essential goods and services for the division’s operations. Other responsibilities include monitoring the proper usage of contracts and managing contract allocations. The Business Services Division has an essential role during Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activation in support of the Logistics Unit of the Miami-Dade County Office of Emergency Management, and the incumbent may be required to assist.

The People and Internal Operations Department (PIOD) provides a wide range of internal support services for the ongoing operation of County government which focuses on promoting operational best practices and efficient government operations. PIOD provides various customer-based business services that include, but not limited to facility management, design and construction management, fleet management, risk management, surplus property disposition services, capital inventory management, and large-scale printing services. Through these various business lines, PIOD is engaged in real estate development and management, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, materials management, and parking services.

As an FRS member, you must contribute 3% of your salary towards your retirement benefit, on a pre-tax basis (contributions are taken from your gross salary before Federal Withholding taxes are calculated). Miami-Dade County also contributes towards your retirement based on the employee classification.
