As a Purchasing Team Manager, you will lead the department with a balance of strategy and hands-on execution, ensuring purchasing operations run efficiently while fostering growth and accountability within your team.

Position Summary

The Purchasing Team Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of purchasing activities for raw materials and supplies that support production and warehouse operations. This role ensures that procurement aligns with operational needs, vendor partnerships are strong, and cost-saving opportunities are identified. As a manager, you will lead your team through clear direction, coaching, and development, while building a culture of accountability, ownership, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Translate company and departmental goals into actionable purchasing strategies.
• Manage supplier relationships to secure favorable pricing, terms, and reliability.
• Use purchasing data and analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities, efficiency gains, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Partner with production, warehouse, and finance teams to align purchasing decisions with broader organizational goals and budget requirements.

Manager Development & Oversight

• Provide direction, coaching, and training for purchasing team members.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones and support performance reviews, offering guidance on growth and improvement opportunities.
• Support staffing decisions, including hiring, promotions, or corrective actions, in alignment with company standards.
• Ensure team members are aligned with company and departmental priorities by communicating updates from leadership.

Operational Execution

• Oversee daily purchasing operations, maintaining appropriate inventory levels of raw materials and office supplies.
• Monitor and manage the purchasing schedule to ensure timely procurement aligned with production and warehouse demand.
• Resolve operational challenges, troubleshoot issues with suppliers, and adapt schedules to meet dynamic needs.
• Ensure purchasing processes and systems are accurate, efficient, and compliant with company policies.

• Foster a culture of accountability, clarity, and ownership within the team.
• Encourage collaboration across departments to support smooth workflows and strong communication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
• 1+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Analytical mindset with ability to use data to inform decisions.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with inventory and purchasing software systems.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

• Standard business hours with occasional flexibility required to meet purchasing deadlines.
• Fast-paced office and warehouse environment with regular use of computers and phones.
