Job Summary:
The Purchasing/Inventory Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the seamless operation of Turkey Valley Farms’ supply chain by overseeing both procurement activities and warehouse operations. This dual-role position requires a combination of strategic procurement skills and efficient warehouse management expertise to ensure the availability of goods while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· This position oversees department staff.
· Provides visible leadership and guidance to all plant indirect staff to foster continuous improvements and best practices.
· Hires and trains department staff.
· Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
· Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Ensures timely and accurate receiving, planning, distribution, delivery and replenishment of products and materials.
· Implement inventory control measures to maintain accurate stock levels. Supervise and perform physical inventory counts during scheduled inventories.
· Optimize warehouse layout and workflows for operational efficiency.
· Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.
· Evaluate, negotiate, and establish contracts with vendors to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement.
· Monitor market trends, vendor performance, and industry developments.
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
· Negotiate favorable terms and conditions to ensure quality and cost-effective procurement.
· Address any issues or discrepancies in collaboration with the Plant Manager.
· Implement and improve processes to enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
· Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies including BRCGS, Animal Welfare, HACCP, USDA, etc.
· Assist with gathering critical information on Vendor information for third party food safety audits. This may also include participating in the audit process.
· Maintain accurate records of vendor contracts, procurement transactions, inventory levels, and warehouse activities. Utilizes the computer system to maintain accurate inventory levels and costs. Prepares and controls all purchase orders and invoices, shipping receipts, etc., on material, parts, supplies, etc.
· Work within budget constraints, identifying cost-saving opportunities in procurement and warehouse operations.
· Analyze and report on procurement costs, inventory expenses, and operational budgets. Generates reports and measures of departmental operations as well as records on all inventory items, employee PPE, products, etc. Supplies parts pricing information to Sales staff as needed for job costing.
· Ensures that documentation and returns of overstocks and warranted supplies and materials are handled appropriately to ensure receipt of credits. Follows-up on credit postings.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, finance, quality assurance, shipping, and production, to meet organizational objectives.
· Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
· All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas, negotiate deals, and build strong relationships with vendors, team members, and senior management.
· Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team, setting clear goals and providing guidance to achieve them.
· Strong negotiation, contract management, and procurement skills.
· Proficiency in warehouse management systems and procurement software.
· Ability to make strategic decisions and lead teams toward common goals.
· Demonstrated success in a leadership or supervisory position.
· Ability to operate a motorized pallet jack as needed.
· Ability to identify potential safety hazards.
· Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Education and Experience:
· High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
· Five years’ experience in purchasing/warehousing/inventory management.
· Knowledge of production flow and FIFO Inventory methods.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Extended periods of standing and walking throughout the warehouse.
· Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
· Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel to inspect inventory or reach items on lower shelves.
· Manipulating and handling items at various heights within the warehouse.
· Control over movements to avoid accidents and maintain a safe working environment.
· Good vision to inspect inventory, read labels, and monitor warehouse activities.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
