Job Description
We are seeking an experienced PV Technician for a utility-scale Solar Power Plant project as part of a tender submission. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic systems to ensure optimal plant performance, safety, and availability in compliance with OEM guidelines and approved procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform operation and maintenance activities for solar PV systems, including PV modules, trackers, inverters, MV stations, and associated equipment.
- Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance in accordance with OEM recommendations, approved schematics, and Site Maintenance Procedures (SMPs).
- Monitor plant performance and respond to inverter faults to restore generation within minimum downtime.
- Conduct accurate and systematic troubleshooting of PV system faults following OEM-approved methods.
- Execute Predictive Maintenance and Condition Monitoring activities to minimize breakdowns and unavailability events.
- Maintain and inspect solar inverter systems, relay and control protection panels.
- Operate and maintain solar tracking systems.
- Support substation operation and maintenance, preferably with experience in HV/MV substations, switching, and plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with all HSE requirements, site rules, and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma (3 years) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, with proven experience as a PV Technician in Solar Power Plants.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Utility-scale solar PV plants
- Inverters, trackers, and MV stations
- 1500V DC solar PV systems
- Relay and control protection systems
- HV/MV substation operation and switching (preferred)
- Strong understanding of solar plant electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a site-based environment.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills
- OEM-specific inverter and tracker experience
- Knowledge of SCADA monitoring systems
- Experience in large-scale or utility solar projects
