Python Backend & AI Developer

Consecutive Bytes is looking for a motivated and skilled Python Backend & AI Developer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in backend development using Python, FastAPI, and/or Django, along with experience in building APIs, web scraping, data processing workflows, and automation solutions.

About the Role

This position is ideal for a backend developer with a strong passion for AI, automation, and data-driven systems. We are looking beyond prompt engineering and the use of existing AI tools. Our goal is to build and operate our own AI capabilities using open-source LLMs and self-hosted infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will be excited about working with open-source models, AI agents, RAG architectures, vector databases, model fine-tuning, and deploying AI solutions on private servers. You will play a key role in helping us build in-house AI systems tailored to our business needs rather than relying solely on third-party AI platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python, FastAPI, and/or Django.
• Build, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
• Develop and maintain web scrapers to collect, process, and manage data from various online sources.
• Handle data extraction, transformation, cleaning, and storage processes efficiently.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate backend services with React.js and Next.js applications.
• Create automation scripts and backend tools to improve internal workflows.
• Assist in building in-house AI and LLM-based solutions, including internal knowledge systems, data processing pipelines, and AI-powered automation.
• Research, evaluate, and implement open-source AI technologies, embeddings, vector databases, RAG systems, and AI agent workflows.
• Deploy and maintain self-hosted AI infrastructure and services.
• Optimize backend systems for performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve backend and data-related issues.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Data Science, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of professional experience in Python development.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and/or Django.
• Good understanding of backend development and RESTful API architecture.
• Experience with web scraping and data extraction.
• Familiarity with scraping tools/frameworks such as BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, Selenium, or Playwright.
• Basic understanding of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
• Understanding of frontend-backend integration.
• Basic knowledge of deployment processes and cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
• Interest in AI, LLMs, automation, data processing, and building internal AI-powered systems.
