Hiring QA/QC Engineer for Instrumentation and Automation project, 2 months, Qatar

Summary : Experience in the oil and gas industry is responsible for ensuring that all equipment, materials, installation, and testing activities related to instrumentation and control systems comply with project specifications, industry codes, and safety regulations. This role involves both quality assurance (prevention) and quality control (inspection/detection) throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Documentation and Planning:
• Develop and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and quality control procedures specific to instrumentation and automation.
• Review and approve contractor/vendor technical documents, drawings (P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams), and method statements for compliance with standards like IEC, ISA, and client specifications.
• Prepare and manage inspection requests (RFIs), quality reports, and final documentation dossiers for mechanical completion and handover.
• Vendor and Material Management:
• Conduct pre-award supplier capability assessments and participate in pre-inspection meetings.
• Perform receiving inspections for all incoming materials and equipment, verifying certification (e.g., material test certificates), calibration status, and proper storage/preservation.
• Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for critical equipment like PLC/ESD panels, control systems, and skids.
• Site Installation and Testing:
• Oversee and inspect the installation of field instruments, signal cabling, junction boxes, and control panels to ensure compliance with approved drawings and hazardous area classifications (e.g., ATEX/IECEx 60079).
• Witness and validate Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), functional testing of safety instrumented functions (SIFs), and loop checks.
• Manage the calibration program for all measuring and testing devices, ensuring traceability to national/international standards.
• Quality Control and Issue Resolution:
• Identify and track non-conformities (NCRs), manage the corrective and preventive action process, and ensure effective close-out.
• Lead or participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for significant quality issues or equipment failures.
• Conduct internal and external quality audits of contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) (e.g., ISO 9001).

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field is typically required.
• Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of specific QA/QC experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects, with hands-on experience in instrumentation and automation systems.
• Must have experience in QatarEnergy projects & with approvals.
