Duties & Responsibilities:
- Pre-order technical clearance: Evaluate all proposed materials for compliance with project specs, standards, and suitability (lux levels, durability, slip/UV/fire resistance, etc.) before procurement approval.
- Sample verification: Test and validate samples (lab tests, mock-ups, certifications) before ID final sign-off.
- Cross-department review: Coordinate with ID (aesthetics) and Procurement (commercials) to ensure the selected material is both visually acceptable and technically compliant.
- Site-level checks: Inspect delivered materials on-site to confirm compliance with approved samples and test certificates. Reject nonconforming deliveries.
- Database management: Maintain a central repository of approved materials, suppliers, and test reports for reference in future projects.
- Training & awareness: Guide ID and Procurement teams on basic technical acceptance criteria.
- Authority coordination (as needed): Provide technical support for sustainability ratings (LEED, WELL, Estidama) but not direct approvals.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or Architecture (with focus on building materials).
- 8–12 years’ experience in large developments with strong exposure to finishes, lighting, façade, and external materials.
- Knowledge of ASTM, BS, EN standards and GCC building codes.
- Familiarity with lighting performance, coatings, waterproofing, thermal and acoustic materials.
- Ability to read and interpret test reports, warranties, and certifications.
- Strong communication skills to mediate between ID (design intent) and Procurement
