Job Title: QC Inspector – Painting (Oil & Gas)
Location: RLIC
Department: Quality Control / Inspection
Reports to: QA/QC Manager / Project Manager
Job Purpose
To ensure all painting and coating works are executed in compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements within the Oil & Gas sector. The QC Inspector will be responsible for performing inspections, tests, and documentation to maintain high-quality standards and integrity of painted/coated surfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspection and quality checks for surface preparation, painting, and coating activities.
- Verify compliance with project specifications, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and applicable standards (SSPC, NACE, ISO, ASTM, etc.).
- Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) prior to and during coating applications.
- Perform inspections of paint materials, batch numbers, and storage conditions.
- Ensure proper calibration and use of inspection tools (DFT gauge, holiday detector, adhesion tester, etc.).
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, checklists, and NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) where necessary.
- Coordinate with painting contractors, project teams, and client representatives for inspection hold/witness points.
- Participate in pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, and ensure safety compliance during inspection activities.
- Support QA/QC Manager in audits and preparation of final QC dossiers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in QC Painting/Coating within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Certification in NACE Level II / BGAS / FROSIO or equivalent (mandatory/preferred).
- Strong knowledge of international standards (SSPC, NACE, ISO 12944, ASTM, etc.).
- Proficient in using inspection tools (DFT gauge, holiday detector, adhesion tester, etc.).
- Familiar with quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
