QC Inspector (Steel Fabrication)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified and detail-oriented QC Inspector with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the UAE steel fabrication industry. The candidate will be responsible for performing inspections during various stages of fabrication to ensure products meet project specifications, applicable standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

l Carry out inspection of raw materials, in-process fabrication activities, and final fabricated items.

l Verify materials against Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and ensure compliance with specifications.

l Conduct visual inspections of welds, dimensional checks, and alignment verification.

l Ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and project standards.

l Monitor welder performance and ensure valid welder qualifications (WQTs) are in place.

l Prepare and maintain Inspection Reports, Checklists, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

l Assist in developing and executing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans.

l Coordinate with the QA/QC Engineer, production team, and project team for quality-related matters.

l Participate in internal and external audits and inspections.

l Follow up and verify corrective actions for any identified quality issues.

l Ensure all inspection tools and equipment are calibrated and maintained properly.

Requirements:

l Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical field.

l Minimum 4 years of QC inspection experience in steel fabrication in the UAE.

l Solid knowledge of welding processes, symbols, and steel fabrication standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME, ISO, BS).

l Familiar with NDT techniques such as VT, PT, MT, and coordination of NDT activities.

l Certification such as CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI is an advantage.

l Proficient in reading engineering/fabrication drawings and shop sketches.

l Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

l Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and accuracy.

l UAE driving license is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

l Experience working on structural steel, platforms, piping supports, or oil & gas fabrication projects.

l Familiarity with UAE consultant and client inspection procedures.

l Ability to generate and maintain quality documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards.
