To develop, implement, and maintain quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems to ensure mining and exploration operations comply with legal, regulatory, and company standards while promoting a safe and sustainable work culture across our joint ventures.
Key Responsibilities Health & Safety
- Develop and enforce Ajlan & Bros Mining group wide and site specific HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety inspections across mining, exploration, and processing areas.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
- Ensure consistent standards are applied across operations.
- Organise regular safety training and emergency drills for mine employees and contractors.
- Monitor and manage environmental impacts of mining and exploration operations (dust, noise, water, waste, emissions).
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, local laws, and sustainability targets.
- Coordinate rehabilitation, waste management, and biodiversity protection programmes.
Quality
- Implement quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) in mining operations.
- Audit suppliers, contractors, and internal processes to ensure operational excellence.
- Develop KPIs and monitor performance against company standards.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain up to date knowledge of mining safety, environmental, and quality legislation.
- Prepare and submit HSE performance reports to regulators and company leadership.
- Maintain incident logs, safety statistics, and environmental monitoring records.
- Promote a "Zero Harm" culture across all teams and departments.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to supervisors and employees on QHSE matters.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety committees, and leadership safety walks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, or equivalent HSE certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years' QHSE experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Knowledge of mining legislation, international standards, and best practices.
- Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and training facilitation skills.
- Driving License.
