We have an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Lab Technician to monitor our production processes to ensure products meet quality standards. As a Quality Assurance Lab Technician, your responsibilities would include examining products for defects, conducting tests, and analyzing data to ensure products meet quality requirements. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing quality control procedures, training staff in quality standards, and reporting any issues to management. Promote safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous quality improvement in accordance with company policies.

- Starting Wage of $25 per hour
- Work Schedule: M-F 11 PM - 7 AM, 7 AM – 3 PM, and 3 PM – 11 PM Rotating every 4 weeks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous quality improvement in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Adhere to all JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis) and Standard Work Instructions.
- Assist in writing and reviewing operational and safety JSAs to improve procedures as well as develop new JSAs based on observations and experiences.
- Inspect and test products or materials to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Record inspection and test data and communicate findings to other departmental teams.
- Perform visual inspections, measurements, and other quality control checks as needed.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and troubleshoot quality issues before and during manufacturing processes.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate results.
- Document and report all non-conformance issues and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Evaluate and suggest improvements to quality control procedures and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure corrective actions have been implemented and maintained.
- Conduct internal audits at Gateway Aluminum’s processes including Casting operations (including degassing units and particle filters), Melting Furnaces, Rolling, Slitting and Packing operations.
- Audit and monitor suppliers to ensure their products meet quality standards.
- Learn and understand Gateway Aluminum’s customers’ requirements.
- Review & verify customer P.O. for testing requirements.
- Collect & prepare aluminum samples.
- Knowledge of chemical and physical procedures and ability to see cause & effect (the processes)
- Collect & prepare oil samples, analyze using standard chemical procedures and report results.
- Maintain quality and performance records.
- Advocate for continuous improvement project
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Two Year Degree in Technical Discipline Preferred but not required
- 1-2 years manufacturing experience - preferred aluminum quality background
- Computer skills required for instrument operation, data storage and retrieval, etc.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently & independently.
- Ability to prioritize and follow the workflow structure.
- Analytical abilities
- Ability to learn technical operation of testing equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to perform all essential physical functions of working in a manufacturing environment such as climbing, standing, bending, reaching, and squatting.
- Hands to finger use – fine motor skills such as, turning, grasping, pinching, wrapping, writing, typing, etc.
- Must be able to lift to fifty pounds.
