Position Summary
Univex Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Control Inspector to join our manufacturing team. This position is primarily responsible for inspecting machined parts and components produced by our machine shop to ensure all products meet established quality standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience with precision measurement tools and a strong commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect machined parts and components coming off the machine shop floor to verify conformance with engineering drawings, blueprints, and written specifications.
- Utilize precision measurement instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify critical dimensions.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections on machined components.
- Document inspection results accurately using inspection reports, non-conformance reports..
- Identify, tag, and quarantine non-conforming parts; initiate corrective action processes as appropriate.
- Collaborate with machinists, operators, and production supervisors to communicate quality findings and support root cause analysis.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment in accordance with established calibration schedules.
- Assist in developing and updating inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality control plans.
- Support internal audits and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area at all times.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1–3 years of quality control or inspection experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols.
- Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Familiarity with quality management systems) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) for documentation purposes.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metal parts.
- Ability to use fine motor skills required for handling precision measuring instruments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
