Aerospace Quality Engineer / CMM Programmer (Camio) Flex-Pro LLC | Phoenix, AZ
Position Summary
The Aerospace Quality Engineer / CMM Programmer is responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance with aerospace standards through inspection planning, CMM programming, and first article validation. This role supports production, engineering, and customer requirements by applying strong knowledge of GD&T, AS9102, and precision measurement techniques across incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and optimize CMM inspection routines using Camio software
- Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications with strong GD&T proficiency (ASME Y14.5)
- Perform and oversee First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102, including ballooned drawings and complete FAI packages
- Conduct quality inspections on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished goods to verify conformance to specifications
- Use precision measuring instruments including CMMs, height gages, calipers, micrometers, and gauges to perform accurate measurements
- Create and maintain detailed inspection plans, traveler-based quality documentation, and inspection records
- Analyze inspection data to identify trends, patterns, and nonconformances, and provide actionable feedback to engineering and manufacturing
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes for nonconforming product
- Collaborate with production and design teams to improve quality and manufacturability
- Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards including AS9100 and NADCAP where applicable
- Maintain calibration awareness and proper use of all inspection equipment
- Fabricate and maintain inspection fixtures or tools as needed
- Assist with internal and external audits as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years of experience in an aerospace quality or inspection role
- Hands-on CMM programming experience using Camio software
- Strong proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Solid understanding of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and quality documentation practices
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace drawings and CAD models
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems
- Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA)
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification
