Quality Control Lead

The quality control lead is a working lead responsible for overseeing the job tasks assigned to the quality department and technicians. The lead is the second line of defence within the department to ensure parts meet quality requirements before they ship to the customer’s jobsite for tank erection.

The lead supports and ensures proper execution of assigned work for up to 8-10 quality associates.

Preference will be given to candidates who can pass a weld bend test.

Essential functions:

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, schematics, diagrams and written specifications for tank manufacturing processes

· Responsible for testing and reporting in-process/final quality control results

• Inspect and report overall paint thickness, quality, and visual findings
• Ensure that all product not meeting specification is quarantined and placed on hold
• Daily equipment calibration
• Perform setup/machine validation inspections for first piece inspection protocol
• Perform random checks of finished products to determine that they function per the standards set by engineered drawings and customer requirements
• Any additional duties as assigned

· Reviews daily quality paperwork from quality technicians to ensure accuracy of signed off documentation

· Ensures quality department tools are in compliance and calibrated

· Track shift results for quality in each department, ensure clear hand off to next shift

· Maintains electronic records such as reports, databases, etc. for quality department

· Train and cross-train new and current associates. Reinforce standard work and good technique.

· Join root-cause and improvement work to reduce repeat defects, rework, and downtime.

· Help with trials, new part runs, updates to standard work/visual boards to support operational needs

· Support safety, quality, and environmental audits and follow-up actions.

· Ensures that quality department areas are clean and organized

· Perform other duties as assigned.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

· High School or GED

· Understanding of Quality standards and tolerances

· Understanding of weld symbols desired

· Powder Coating experience desired

· Knowledge of paint line test procedures. Holiday Testing, Chemical Titration of wash station, adhesion test, DFT Testing would be beneficial

· Visual defect analysis

· Attention to Detail

· Professionalism

· Internal and external customer service skills

· Prefer ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings

· Ability to read measuring tools

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job

· Proper use of standard PPE and steel toe work shoes required

· Exertion of physical strength to lift up to and including 50 pounds Max.

· Use hands and arms to manipulate product, lift (at and above waist and shoulder level) and lower, twist, bend, reach, pull, push, crouch, kneel, walk and stand for duration of shift

· Work in a not climate controlled environment

· Standing and walking to 12 hours per shift on concrete floors

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
