Quality Control Manager

SUMMARY
The Quality Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for managing the Quality Inspectors while actively participating in inspections and audits. This role ensures all trucks, components, and processes meet company and customer quality standards. The Quality Manager develops and enforces effective quality processes, provides coaching and oversight to inspectors, and works cross-functionally with production and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, supervise, and develop the team of Quality Inspectors, including training, daily direction, performance feedback, and scheduling.
  • Conduct inspections and audits personally when needed to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Review and approve inspection documentation, reports, and quality records.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, checklists, and best practices for inspection and testing.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors to resolve quality issues in real time.
  • Drive root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives.
  • Monitor inspection metrics and defect trends, reporting findings to management and recommending improvements.
  • Ensure finished trucks meet all BOM, customer requirements, and sales release criteria.
  • Support and back up Test Bay operations when necessary.
  • Recommend design or process changes to improve quality, efficiency, and product reliability.
  • Act as a liaison during customer audits or quality-related inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience in quality management or senior-level quality inspection within a manufacturing environment (custom vehicle/truck building preferred).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality inspection methods, tools, and processes.
  • Excellent eye for detail with strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of ISO or other quality management systems is a plus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct supervision of Quality Inspectors.
  • Responsible for inspector training, development, and performance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications in Quality Management preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience required.
  • Experience building or inspecting custom trucks, refuelers, or heavy equipment preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Quality certifications (ASQ CQT, CQI, or CQE) preferred but not required.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and might occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
